Vertical Panel Metal roofs

Also known as "Standing Seam", architectural Vertical Panel Metal roofs are extremely popular in our area.  There are two basic types of Vertical Panel Metal:  "exposed-fastener" and "concealed-fastener".  With the exposed-fastener type, the roof panels are secured to the roof deck with screws that are exposed and can be seen when the roof is viewed.  With the concealed-fastener type, the screws used to attach the panels are hidden under an overlapping metal rib.  This gives the finished roof a very "clean" appearance.

Vertical Panel Metal roofs are generally made of steel.  The steel is first galvanized, then coated with numerous layers of primer, followed by a durable finish coat.  Also available are panels made of aluminum and copper, but at a premium price.

Vertical Panel Metal products come in a wide range of profiles (R-Panel, 5 Vee, snap-lock, batten lock, etc.) and colors, giving the homeowner great flexibility in determining the best match for a home.  Colors range from the basic silver "Galvalume" to green, brown, blue and red.  Some excellent paint warranties are available for Vertical Panel Metal roofs, thanks to advanced paint / coating technology such as Kynar and Hylar.  Warranties from 20 to 30-years are typical.
